The Montreal Archaeology and History Complex Pointe-à-Callière sought DL HERITAGE to intervene on the metal elements found in the crypt, in the multimedia room of the Éperon pavilion and in the collector sewer. A total of sixty metal elements were stabilized on site to help with their preservation. These diverse elements, which are spread out over multiple underground levels, are an integral part of the remnants under the museum.
Each element was treated on site following a stabilization protocol approved by the museum’s curators. The main deterioration factors, which were related to the corrosion of ancient metal parts, were interrupted. Thanks to this intervention, the lower levels of Pointe-à-Callière are stable again and their preservation is improved.
