Labyrinthide

Artist: Michèle Tremblay-Gillon

Year: 1995

Material: Concrete

Labyrinthide is a 1995 installation made of concrete located in Marie-Victorin Park in Longueuil. With the inverted continent shapes on the outer concrete blocks and the abstract red design on the ground, the artist wished to evoke an ancient civilization.

Over time, battens buried in the concrete slab completely rot and caused the concrete to fail, prompting the need for its conservation. The result of the conservation is magnificent and the work has regained its integrity.
