Histoire de la musique à Montréal

Artist: Frédéric Back

Year: 1967

Materials: Glass, paint

Frederick Back's monumental glass work Histoire de la musique à Montréal has adorned the metro station Place-des-Arts since 1967. This artwork is made of many layered pieces of painted glass lit from behind that produces a compelling play of colours. The Société de transport de Montréal took advantage of construction work at Place-des-Arts station to remove the glass work from its support and conduct conservation work on damaged glass panels.

DL Heritage was responsible for treating the stained glass windows and also designed custom transport boxes for the reinstallation of the artwork.
