Parisian metro entryway

Artist: Hector Guimard

Year: 1967

Materials: Painted cast iron, ceramic tiles, stone

This Guimard surround was designed for the Parisian metro in the early 20th century and installed in Montreal in 1967 at the entrance of the Square-Victoria-OACI station in downtown. The staircase adorned with white and blue tiles and the spectacular Art Nouveau portico have unfortunately been victims of repeated vandalism. In such situations, the Société de transport de Montréal calls upon the expertise of DL Heritage to remove graffiti from the artworks.

The methods used to remove graffiti are gentle and adapted to the materials of the station entryway, leaving the surfaces clean and, most importantly, intact.
